Welcome to A Better Self Therapies.  


Based  in King's Lynn, I provide services both in person and remotely.  


There are many holistic ways to improve ourselves including  counselling and hypnotherapy and there is always more that we can do to find our truth.  My goal is to enable others to see themselves and to find balance, peace and the answers that they already hold.  

 My name is Debi and I am an Integrative Counsellor, Certified Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT) practitioner, Hypnotherapist, Emotional Freedom Techniques practitioner (EFT), Holy Fire Reiki III Master and Meditation/Balance Procedure practitioner.  I am also trained in Attachment and trauma awareness, and Emotion coaching 

As a trauma informed therapist I know that trauma in our lives, both known and unknown can leave us bruised and is often held onto, resulting in emotional hurdles that can seem hard to move past.  I can work with you to overcome hurdles including  anxiety, stress, self esteem issues and feeling lost and confused.   I am here support you working through emotions often finding their root and setting you free to heal.

Every client receives a personalised approach often using more than one therapy style following our initial free consultation.



Therapies to guide you back to your true self.

Psychotherapy

I have always been good at hearing the things that are not spoken.  My background in psychology and sociology has shown me the importance of paying attention to all behaviours and not simply the spoken ones.  I have trained pluralistic counselling and use a holistic approach as I appreciate that one size does not fit all.


I provide a non judgemental space either online or in person, where you will be able to talk freely and explore and feelings that might be causing difficulties.  I use a variety of modalities and often use worksheets, arts and crafts, inner child and core wound work.  


Whilst working with me, there will be regular reviews with regards to progress and needs enabling you as the client to remain in control. 


Counselling can support you through a variety of life's hurdles including:


Anxiety and Stress
Low confidence and self esteem
Relationship issues
Trauma
Grief and loss

Together, we can work to understand your emotions and past experiences, uncovering themes that may be repeating and finding ways to walk away from what no longer serves you and putting down what is not yours to carry.   


Please know that you do not need to do this on your own, I can support and walk beside you on your journey

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique that takes you into a deep state of relaxation to help change existing habits and / or manage emotions that impede your day to day functioning.


As a therapy, hypnotherapy is a gentle non intrusive tool that can help to reduce stress, anxiety and relieve limiting behaviours such as previous trauma, phobias and low self confidence.  


Hypnotherapy can help you to create lasting change in your life and release blocks that have been holding you back.


Following an initial consultation, sessions will be tailored to your needs guiding you to becoming a better self.



IEMT

IEMT Is a therapy that is delivered over two or three sessions (4 hours). It can be used to process difficult memories and how they are experienced to the individual. The memories are not removed but the negative emotions that are attached to the memory are released through guided eye movements.  

IEMT can provide rapid and lasting changes to the client's emotional state. This process involves limited dialogue and allows the client to not have to share painful or traumatic details as emotional responses can be difficult to change and not everybody wants to talk about how they are feeling.   


IEMT can provide relief from issues such as:

  • PTSD 


This therapy is effective and often removes the feeling of a weight that has been carried with almost instant effect.  This therapy often taps into past experiences often not realised from our past, providing a welcome release allowing clarity, freedom and a sense of control. 

EFT

EFT,  often referred to as “tapping,” is a gentle therapeutic approach that combines ancient Chinese acupressure with modern psychology. By tapping on specific meridian points on the body while focusing on emotional issues, EFT helps to release energy blockages and restore emotional balance.

How Does EFT Work?

Emotional distress -whether rooted in trauma, anxiety, limiting beliefs, or physical symptoms can disrupt the body’s energy system. EFT uses fingertip tapping to stimulate these energy points, allowing the body to process and release stuck emotions. This simple but powerful technique helps to calm the nervous system, reduce emotional intensity, and support healing.
Clients turn to EFT for a wide range of concerns, including:

Anxiety and overwhelm
Emotional eating
Low self-esteem or self-worth
Stress and burnout
Past trauma or emotional pain
Physical symptoms linked to emotional causes

Reiki and Mindfulness

Why Have Reiki?


At A Better Self Therapies, Reiki is offered as a gentle, restorative practice to help you feel more balanced, calm, and connected to yourself.  Reiki is a healing technique also known as energy healing and I work using hand near or hand on practise.


Reiki works with your body’s natural energy system to promote healing — emotionally, physically, and spiritually. It’s a deeply relaxing therapy that allows space for whatever needs to shift.


You might choose Reiki to:


Ease anxiety, overwhelm, or emotional fatigue


Support recovery after stress, trauma, or illness


Release tension held in the body


Reconnect with your sense of peace and inner stillness


Complement your wider healing journey


You don’t have to ‘believe’ in Reiki for it to work — just come as you are, and allow your body and mind to receive.


I am a qualified Holy Fire Reiki III Master/ Teacher and I offer sessions on Saturdays at GH Hair Design in King's Lynn (sessions last approximately 45 minutes and booking is required.
